CONSENT NOTICE

By using the Guidely website, Chrome extension, or any related services, you consent to the use of cookies and similar technologies as described in this Cookie Policy. If you do not consent, you must disable cookies in your browser settings or discontinue use of the Service. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from using the Service.

1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, and browser extension storage APIs (such as chrome.storage.local), which allow websites and browser extensions to store data locally on your device. This policy covers all such technologies used by Guidely (collectively, "Cookies").

2. How We Use Cookies

Guidely uses essential, functional, and analytics cookies. Essential cookies are strictly necessary for authentication, session management, and core product functionality. Functional cookies enable features like recording state persistence. Analytics cookies help us understand how users interact with the Service so we can improve it. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or third-party marketing cookies. We do not sell cookie data or use it to build advertising profiles.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Our subprocessors may set their own cookies:

  • Supabase: sets essential authentication cookies for session management
  • Vercel: may set infrastructure cookies for load balancing, security, and performance optimization
  • PostHog: sets analytics cookies for product usage tracking and session recording (web dashboard only)

These third-party cookies are governed by the respective privacy policies and cookie policies of those services. Guidely does not control and is not responsible for third-party cookies. We encourage you to review their policies.

5. Your Choices and Control

You have the following options for managing cookies:

  • Browser settings: most browsers allow you to block, delete, or be notified about cookies. Consult your browser's help documentation for instructions
  • Cookie consent banner: you can manage your consent preferences through our cookie consent banner
  • Extension data: you can clear Chrome extension storage by uninstalling and reinstalling the extension, or through Chrome's extension management page

IMPORTANT: Disabling or blocking essential cookies will prevent authentication and core functionality from working. You will not be able to sign in, create guides, or use any features of the Service. By continuing to use the Service with cookies enabled, you consent to the placement and use of cookies as described in this policy. If you do not consent, your only option is to discontinue use of the Service.

6. Chrome Extension Storage

The Guidely Chrome extension uses chrome.storage.local (not cookies) to store recording state, authentication tokens, user preferences, and cached workspace data. This data remains on your device and is not directly accessible to websites. It is only read by the Guidely extension itself. However, this data may be synced with our servers during normal operation of the Service. This storage is cleared when you uninstall the extension.

7. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals. There is currently no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. At this time, the Service does not respond to DNT signals. However, you can manage your tracking preferences through the cookie controls described above.

8. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy at any time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. Changes become effective immediately upon posting. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. It is your responsibility to review this policy periodically.

9. Related Policies

This Cookie Policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and End User License Agreement. By using the Service, you agree to all of these policies.
